Should a teacher break up a fight between students? Teachers are held responsible when students get hurt in a fight while they were right there. ( A teacher cannot stand and watch.) However, if they break up a *Heated* fight, they sometimes get into trouble for touching a student b/c the fight was intense. A couple times I heard a student even claimed sexual harassment. False accusations about a sexual student-teacher relationship? Recently there have been FALSE rumors going on about a high school student (me) having secret sexual relations with my male teacher. I have been interviewed by our counselor and principal because they want to find out why the rumors have started. How can I tell if my english teacher hates me? My english teacher is a really cool and awesome person. He knows how to crack up the whole class, and behaves like he's our age. :P He's so cool that he imitates the Principal as well!! He doesn't seem to have a problem with anyone, but me... I go to an all-girls school, and am really known for my sarcastic and witty comments. I talk a lot, and comment on everything the teachers say. Can you sue your public school if your child is injured (3 broken bones) by another student starting a fight? A boy, who has been in trouble several times in school, has been suspended in the past, and is known for his anger issues, by both teachers and students, started a fight with my 13 year old . The fight was pretty quick, however, the boy fell on my son as they fell to the ground. The result of his injuries are a broken Fibula, a broken Tibia, a broken hand and 6 stitches in his elbow. Is the school liable for not taking preventative measures to have this other child watched closer when he has a history of violence in the school and against other children, thus preventing him from attacking kids, such as my son? HELP The only issue I have with the school is 2 things: The Assistant Principal lied to me when he said this boy has never been in trouble. How do you feel about my teacher who made a female student strip? And is my school messed up? Ok. So At my private school they allow teachers to give out ANY punisment. Any punisment. One time, a teacher spanked a student. But listen to this one. This girl at school got into a fight. And tthe teacher tried to suspend her. So she cursed at the teacher. Then the teacher got upset. So here is what HE made her do. First, HE told her to stand in front of the class. than, HE told her to take her top of. She said no. Then He said that if she doesn't, she will get kicked out. And she really cares about her grades. So she took her top of. The class was noisy. She was standing in her bra. Then ,HE told her to take her bra off. She yeled no.Then He said he would said he would have her kicked out. Then SHE TOOK HER BRA OFF. her bare BREAST were showing. Then HE told her to take off everthing eles and she was standing there fully naked for like 5 minutes. She was crying. The teacher gave her a robe and she took her cloths and ran out the school. The next day, her mother came up to the school and cursed him out. She used every curse word in the book. How do you feel about that? its a private school. And its really a true story. Really.

Teacher-student respect? I have a history teacher who, some students in my class, including myself, feel is a little wrong about some topics. Now history can be a very contreversal subject, and I don't agree with everything she says. I've spoken with her about certain issues, but she always waits until after class to talk with me. I'm being bullied by a student teacher? I work in the school store at my school during my lunch period. Back in February, the teacher that runs it introduced us to her student teacher. For the past few weeks, her student teacher has been bullying me. She demands me to do everything when there are 5 other kids in their to do something for her. But today, was the worst, she yelled at me for every little thing (most stuff I didn't know) and it's embarrassing for me when people are in there. She also friend requests all of her students and soon to-be students on facebook. One time my friend (umm..Mary) had a picture of her class and the teacher was in the picture. Mary's other friend asked her who that was and Mary said how she was our teacher, but she really didn't like her and she doesn't feel as though she's a good teacher and wishes she would quit. My teacher read this, commented on the photo, and mentioned it to the student, and they got in a big fight about it and Mary was switched out of that class. Is it just me, or should people be allowed to express their opinions (on facebook, which is in no way school related) without teachers confronting them about it? Another time, there was a picture of a couple of my other friends (Paul and Will) laughing really hard. Someone commented on the photo saying "Wow you guys are crazy. Can i get some of those drugs your on? hahaha" and Paul said "i like the way you think". Will commented on it saying "E." Thats all. And keep in mind this was completely a joke. My teacher read this, sent it to the principal, vice principal, the counselor, and their parents. I understand that they shouldn't in anyway have made a reference to drugs in a public place on facebook, but again, why is that teacher friends with them, reading their comments, and bringing it up in school when it has nothing to do with school at all? And inviting kids to sing in bars to further benefit herself and her own career?

What are people's views on private school and the students who attend private school? I was having a discussion with my class a few weeks ago after seeing a clip from a documentary that painted the picture that public school was the enemy in education. The documentary included clips from movies about public schools, and showed students fighting in the bathroom, beating their teacher to a bloody pulp, and even a movie depicting the events of Columbine. It seems like students from these schools get the same reputation as the schools they go to. It seems that many people wrongfully share this opinion of public schools, even though 60% of college applicants went to public school, and the two best schools in my city, while exclusive, are public schools. In addition, Columbine could have occured at a private school, as can students beating up their teachers, and fighting in classrooms, and I don't understand why public schools get this negative vibe from so many people. This kind of got me wondering about what people's perceptions of private schools and private school students are -- what would you say people's perceptions of private schools and the students who attend them are? Today in class my teacher neglected my 504 plan (a plan which states for my juvenile diabetes that I am allowed to leave my classroom for as long as I need to take care of myself and not be penalized... etc). I was gone from my class for 13 minutes (and even students without a 504 are allowed a maximum of 20 minutes without penalization out of class). When I returned to class, where we were only watching a sex ed video, my teacher screamed at me and told me to "GET OUT OF MY CLASSROOM". I didn't want to disturb anyone so i didnt fight it and went out into the hall until the period was over. I returned to class and said apologized to my teacher for leaving so long and told him I had a 504 so he couldn't do that the next time it happened, if it ever did. He replied "I don't give a S**t about your diabetes or your 504 plan. Get out of my office and enjoy your cut slip and a failing grade". So basically for being out of class for 10 minutes I get a cut slip and a failing grade. i reported it immediately to my house master who basically told me "hed get back to me" (my school pretty much could care less about their students.. as long as theyre getting paid of course). I spoke to a friend of mine at school who is also diabetic and he told me I could report this case to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, to potentially get this teacher fired for him neglecting my health condition, and the circumstances that come with it. Does anyone know what I should do? Or who/where I should call/ contact? I feel like this is incredibly unfair and if my teacher is too stupid to understand my condition, then he should get quite a slap in the face from a much larger organization. HELP! PLEASE!

Teacher insulted student? My teacher yelled at me for no reason whatsoever then had the nerve to say that I punched someone which is deffinatly[sp] not true. Can a teacher fail a student for the quarter if they miss only one assignment? My son received 98-100% on all of his social studies tests this quarter, completed all of his in-class work and home work, and completed one project at home. However, he did not complete a group (2 students) in-class project. So, his teacher gave him a "D" for the quarter stating that the grade is due to missing the one project. Is there anything that I can do to try to get her to change his grade? Do you think that this is weighted way too much for one project? Is there anything on the web that will help me in this fight? P.S. My son is only 9 and he is so upset about this grade. I just wanted to respond to the first answer I received. I am going to complain, i just want all of the backing that I can get before I speak with the teacher. As a mother, I am my son's only advocate. I am very involved with my son's education and expect him to be accountable just as much as I expect a teacher to be accountable. One last thing, the rest of the comments on his report card from the teacher are excellent: "he is a pleasure to have in class, participates and stays on task" his school also has a daily message book that is completed by the teacher and signed by the parent every day which shows that my son has completed all of his work. Teachers, counselors, parents, principals, etc. always tell students that they shouldn't think that going to the University they want is impossible, and that they should work hard and keep trying, but this causes students as a whole to become highly competitive for the best Universities, and become ashamed if they can't get in. In an effort to get students motivated to try their best to get in the the best Universities, they end up creating a competitive environment where it's actually harder to get into good Universities. How can we Come up with a way for students to protect or fight back if another massacre were to happen? Im a parent and the worst thing is to have to worry that my child is not safe in school. Is it ever OK for an adult to grab an older student's arm in a school situation? I work in a center that teaches young adults, and when classes started, one of the female students, who is habitually late, was in the hallway instead of in class. The director of the center yelled at this girl and grabbed her by the arm and took her to the office. She repeatedly asked him to stop. Is the adult who grabbed this girl subject to charges for this action? The argument is that she provoked him by her behavior, but the teachers' understanding is that there should be no contact unless two students are fighting, or there is some other emergency.

How do I resolve my feelings about a fight with my teacher? In the beginning of the school year, our entire class (14 students) was having problems with our teacher. We couldn't stand the way he taught and were frustrated with him. One day, he was out and we all talked about what we hate about his teaching. Soon after, he pushed too far and made my friend cry. Did students fight allot when you were in high school ? Teachers stopped whipping us in the tenth grade. Things got wild. I remember Norma Jean. She fought other girls,boys and bus drivers and sent fear through one's heart. One day at time to let out a student ran by our class and screamed,"it's John Brown and Norma Jean.!". John Brown was a 7 foot tall basketball player. The whole school gathered to watch. Within seconds Norma Jean had John Brown on the ground. When teachers finally broke them up, John Brown had a huge mark across his face. Norma yelled, now you are mine, I put my mark on your face!". I wonder if later in life she became a wrestler?

How can a substitute teacher earn requests from teachers/schools? I am currently a substitute teacher for a district and don't understand how the politics work. I mean, I complete everything according to sub plans. I am friendly and smile and stuff. I even help students with assignments. What gives? I would like a steady gig with a particular school instead of fighting for jobs every week. How can I earn more requests from secretaries?

What should I do to report my teacher? My history teacher gives people detention for whispering and getting up to sharpen our pencils. She always gets on my case for barely talking when the rest of the class is screaming right in her face. My friends are thinking of starting a petition but is there something else we can do about it besides report it to the principal? Some people from her other classes say that she says some racist things during class and I also think she should be reported for it. I got into a fight at school today? haha and on friday i just got off suspension for 'threatening to fight' this lame girl. today @ lunch, this girl insulted me and called me a poser. well, she didn't exactly say those words. she was sitting at my table, and said, "aubrie, i think you're really a prep or something, not this bad girl." i already didn't like the girl. she just erks me for some reason. in freshman year, i slapped the sh*t out of her cause she tripped me. we're sophmores now. anyway, i replied "b*tch watch your mouth". then the bell rang. she was saved by the bell. i saw her in the hallway on my way to biology, and she said, "dumbass b*tch you're f*cking over the top, i didn't say sh*t to you". so i pimp slapped the b*tch. she threw a punch, but a student teacher hurried and held her back. i was walking down the hall as she was being restrained still. i saw her at study hall. i went over to her and started talking my sh!t. it would be the perfect time to fight...its literally about 100 students in my study hall class, everyone would start gathering around, and the teacher for study hall is about 60. i called her a dumb blond, a slutty b*tch, a cocksuckerr, and a tranny. she stood up and i shoved her against the wall. she started getting real angry with me, and had the nerve to spit on me. i punched her so hard, her head slammed against the wall. EVERYONE, and i mean everyone, gathered around us in a semi-circle. the teacher had went out to the teachers lounge for something too, right before this all begun. it was only students in the room. then the girl punched me back, then i grabbed her hair, punched her with my other hand, and then slammed her on to the floor. i pinned her down and punched her in the face, you know. then i stood up, and she was sitting on the floor, and had a good grip of her hair still, and punched her in the face. then i let her get up, and then it was another round. she slammed herself against me, and then she like, pulled me onto the floor and kneed me in my stomach, and almost had me pinned down, but i managed to stand up. but then she slammed me against a bookshelf and kept on punching me. then she punched me so hard, she got me pinned down. but she let me up quickly. in the last round, i punched her into the crowd, and then she got pushed my this boy into the wall. i took it from there, and punched her as hard as i could in the face. but then, the old lady returned to the room with this male gym teacher named Mr. Harvey. he's only like 25 and he's tall and muscular, so he was able to break through the crowd and break up the fight. the girl and i are suspended. what do you think about the whole situation? what would you have done?

Teachers: If you had a student who's mark dropped 72% from one term to the next, would you want to know why? If this was a fairly good student, would you be concerned? And on top of a huge drop in marks, she was also missing most classes and the ones she made it to she was always late... If her reason were that she'd gone through a really tough time in her personal life and was having family issues which lead to drug use and addiction which she was fighting and trying to quit, would you be more willing to help her and see her as a student in need searching for help or see her as trying to take the easy way out by getting your sympathy and pitty? I have the same english teacher this year as last year, and last year is when i dropped 72%... this year i skipped one of her classes and got caught and i dont think she should nor do i expect her to treat me better than anyone else by excusing that, but i would like it if she could at least understand that i am trying and my struggles out side of school are now interfering with school... Teacher Flirting With STUDENTS?!?!?!? My computer science teacher has always been kind of wierd. He failed every girl in my class last quarter. He specifically always accuses me and my friend all the TIME! Like today he was explining what corcth was its some kind of tool I know I spelled it wrong! Well im in 8th grade and people thought it was funny because he said they are long and pinty and also squishy. My class has a sick mind lol. A substitute teacher who was a Vietnam vet said this quote, do you agree with him? For one of my semester electives back in the school year, I chose to be a teacher's aide at the junior school. One day the teacher wasn't there and a substitute was running the class. Because a sub was there, I didn't have any papers to grade, no work to put up on the walls etc. So I had no choice but to listen to him speak. In a 100 minute block, he spent about 40 minutes talking about his time in the Army, the current war in Iraq and Afghanistan and other unrelated history topics. On top of that, the sub could probably give at least a 15 minute lecture on ANY subject (I heard he once gave a 20 minute lecture about ravioli). One of the students asked Student: Mr. Potter, are you afraid of war? Mr. Potter: Well going to war? Or being at war? Student: Fighting in a war Mr. Potter: If you're completely unafraid of fighting in a war, I'd think you're quite insane. Do you agree with him?

Anybody else like the Burger King spicey chicken sandwich commercial with the Kung Fu chicken? As of writing this, September of 2007, there's a Burger King commercial running around the TV stations where a wise kung fu teacher is instructing his young fighting fowl student on mastering the strength of his kick which of course has a double meaning in regards to his fighting technique and the strength of the sandwich itself. The great part to me is the final scene where the chicken goes into the kung fu mimic of "Ohhhhhhh" after achieving the approval of his trainer. Does anyone else think this commercial is great in terms of laughter? This will sound condescending, but I usually think most TV and the commercials themselves are quite derivative and banal, but this was definitely quite humorous and orignal. My teacher hates me what can I do to make it better!? so anyway there is this teacher at my school and she seems to just hate me. I have never got into any trouble and I am a straight A student. I never said anything to her. My other teachers say I am one of the best students who has come along in years but this teacher has been like trying to get me into trouble or something. Zappala Jr. has a plan to cut down on fighting and violence in the Woodland Hills and Pittsburgh Public Schools districts. Zappala's office will set up a system to handle cases involving assaults on teachers, police officers and students, he said Monday. Through an agreement with Common Pleas Court, Assistant District Attorney Patrick Schulte and one juvenile court judge will be assigned to cases involving the two school districts, he said. Judge Kim Clark, who heads the Family Division, will hear the cases two days a month, said Jim Rieland, administrator of juvenile probation. Rieland said of 259 cases of aggravated assaults on teachers from Sept. 1, 2007, through May 15, 182 originated from Pittsburgh Public Schools and 42 were from Woodland Hills. Aggravated assaults on teachers constitute everything from touching, shoving or pushing a teacher to injuries a teacher suffers while breaking up fights between students, Rieland said. "We are not going to permit that to continue," Zappala vowed. "We want the schools to be safe." Zappala became involved in Woodland Hills in November, after then-Swissvale police Chief James Ohrman complained that school officials repeatedly failed to notify police about serious criminal offenses in schools. West Junior High School is located in Swissvale. When student fights and teacher injuries came to a boiling point again in spring, Zappala assigned detectives from his office and the Violent Crime Firearms Task Force to periodically visit the high school campus in Churchill and check vehicles and monitor students' activities. Zappala said he doesn't prefer to have "a police state on campus." He expects the continuity of a single prosecutor and judge to result in better handling of cases because they would become acquainted with students. "I'm hoping for the same success that we've had with domestic-abuse prosecutions," Zappala said. "Repeat offenders are treated differently than first-time offenders." He said he aims for better coordination with Shuman Juvenile Detention Center. That pleases Swissvale police Chief Greg Geppert, who said students taken to Shuman often came to school the next day. "Our problem is getting juvenile court to do something with (students involved in fights and other violent acts)," Geppert said. The chief said he worries about what might happen when nearly 300 students from East Junior High School in Turtle Creek, which is closing, come to West Junior High this fall. "I expect a lot of problems with that," said Geppert, who wants to assign a second resource officer to West Junior High. Zappala's plan would address elementary students by introducing an anti-bullying program modeled after one from Cape Coral, Fla., where a student committed suicide in 2005 after being bullied by a classmate. The plan would direct school districts to develop a policy regarding bullying and harassment, and to report instances to parents of bullies and victims. David Johnston, director of pupil personnel services in Woodland Hills, said the district implemented a bullying policy during the most recent school year.
